The Orthotic and Prosthetic Assistance Fund (OPAF) is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) public charity and the official philanthropy of the U.S. orthotics and prosthetics (O&P) community. Established and incorporated in January 1995 by the Orthotics and Prosthetics National Office and dedicated initially to providing financial and in-kind support to the 1996 Paralympics, OPAF now generates its own initiatives through partnerships with individuals, organizations, and facilities to promote adaptive sports clinics and events. OPAF program descriptions are available on the OPAF web site at http://www.opfund.org. OPAF’s primary mission is to enable individuals served by members of the Orthotic and Prosthetic community to enjoy the rewards of personal achievement, physical fitness, and social interaction. Since 1996, OPAF’s core programs have been made possible chiefly through generous private donations, grants, and annual contributions, both in kind and financial, from members of the O & P community as well as private and public supporters. OPAF First Clinics and programs are conducted around the country. Each year they reach thousands of individuals of all ages, special needs, and racial, ethnic, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds.
