ORGANIZATION PROFILE

The Charitable Limb

THEIR PURPOSE

Mission

The Charitable Limb (TCL) is a very small organization whose sole goal is helping the needy with O&P requirements. The main field of operations has been in Syria. Before the conflict began, TCL conducted an annual clinic at the largest public hospital in Damascus, the Muassat hospital. During the five week clinic, prospective patients were evaluated and treated while hospital staff were also trained in protocols of amputee treatment from OR to final delivery of a prosthetic device. This included gate training and alignment analysis. The clinics started in 2000; the primary objective has been fitting the poor and neglected amputees in need of prosthetic limbs. The secondary objective was education and training. All services have been free of charge.
